SOLID D AND SOLID OFFENSE

The Colorado Redhawks may have played their best game of the season. Over the past 5 weeks their defense has averaged less than one error per game and as always the Redhawks bats are still smoldering hot.

The most improved player the last four games is Adrian DeMarco. When Adrain takes the outfield he hustles to back up the other fielders, and makes diving catches that are worthy of an ESPN top 10 highlight. In addition to his defense, Adrian chalked up another Home Run which springboarded the team to victory over the Nationals.

Mark Link was an Ace on the bump. He has consistently kept the bats quiet his last three starts. Without a doubt, he is the best starter the Redhawks have served up to their toughest opponents this season.

WITH TWO WINS THIS WEEK, REDHAWKS LOOK TO CARRY MOMENTUM INTO SUNDAYS GAME

The Redhawks are back in town after visiting the Bulldogs in Johnstown.

It was well worth the trip to the always beautiful Nelson Farms Field in Johnstown. Everything about the field was in prestine condition and the Bulldogs turned out to be a very tough and classy team.

The game was a tight one. By the bottom of the 8th inning the Bulldogs were up by one run. The umpire stated there was a Johnstown time limit and the Redhawks had 8 minutes to get three outs in the bottom of the 8th in order to go all 9 innings.

That's when Chris Zuniga got the call. He tightened up his ankle brace and walked up to the mound. You could tell he was uncertain after suffering a possible season ending injury last game. Rick Ivy said "Its time to cowboy up" and thats just what Zuniga did. It took him 7 minutes to shut the Bulldogs down with nothing but smoke.

He bought the Redhawks one more inning and the offense put 5 runs on the board which put the score at 17-13 Redhawks. Zuniga took the bump in the 9th inning and shut the Bulldogs down cold with smoke and sliders.

NC NABA INVITES REDHAWKS TO JOHNSTOWN

It's time to head to Johnstown and win one for the Colorado Redhawks and Denver NABA. Two teams from Denver have already made the trip to Johnstown this month and have returned home disappointed, placing the Denver NABA 0-2 on the books.

After making the trip last year the Manager of the Redhawks says jokingly, "Don't forget your bug spray and fogger. It should be Redhawks versus the Bulldogs and Mosquitoes out there." The mosquitoes are notorious in Johnstown and if you dont want to get eaten alive...bring it.

There is constuction past the Fredrick-Dacono exit. Traffic moves at a snails pace for 5 miles. Check mapquest for an alternative route. Rush hour is also a factor. Try to be at the game at least 15 minutes before the start which would be 6:45pm.

FATHERS DAY GAME AT DOUBLE ANGEL

The DOC is back and will be taking the bump against the Denver Blacksox. Lets hope he brings the widow maker and sends a few balls to the E.R.

The game will take place at Double Angel Ballpark in Parker, CO at 12:30 PM.

TWO WAY TIE FOR SECOND PLACE IN THE DIVISION

That will most certainly change this weekend as both teams lock horns at 9:00 AM on Sunday.

Attend the game or tune in tomorrow to find out the scores and highlights.

REDHAWKS ACE THROWS A GEM

After taking the first quarter of the season off due to an injury, it was obvious that Chris Zuniga was back to 100% this Sunday.

He managed to keep the 2007 AA Champions off balance with his repertiore of pitches. Holding the Denver Blacksox to one earned run and throwing down 5 K's on the day.

The Redhawks offense turned the burners up in the top of the 3rd inning. With 4 runs already scored in the 3rd, Mark Link threw more gasoline on the fire with an opposite field 3 run blast bringing the Redhawks to a 9-0 lead over the Blacksox.

Chris Zuniga passed the torch to Jeremy Schwab in the final inning of the game. Jeremy "smoke n bones" Schwab took the bump got his 3 K's, the save and the Redhawks called it a day.

The Redhawks catcher, Garrett "G Man" Exstrom called a phenomenal game behind the dish which highly contributed to the pitching success on the day.

WHAT A GREAT DIVISION

Despite the issues, and unacceptable behavior the field umpire displayed towards our organization, our fans and family in attendance. We take nothing away from the Green Sox organization. They have a good squad and played tough on Sunday. We appreciate the competitiveness the Green Sox bring to the game and look forward to meeting them again this season.

Four way tie for second place. Gotta love the competition this division brings.

NEW TEAM ON REDHAWKS HORIZON

After 5 weeks on the DL, the Redhawks will unleash their Ace on the Greensox this Sunday.

This one should be a battle as the Greensox club has come out of nowhere and firmly set themselves in 3rd place in the standings.

The Redhawks are ready to tighten up their game and rebound from last Sunday by putting the bats back in business.

JON B. KEEPS REDHAWKS HOME RUN STREAK ALIVE

Both team were pumped up and anxious to get started Sunday morning.

The Nationals pitcher kept the Redhawks bats quiet until the 3rd inning. Chris Zuniga led the team off with the first Redhawks hit of the game. It was a solid shot into right field which sent a signal to both dugouts that the pitcher was not untouchable.

Jon Bielecki hit a 3 run blast over the deepest part of the field bringing the games score to 4-3 in the top of the 4th inning.

The Nationals capitalized on pass balls and increased the score to 6-3, leaving it withing reach for the Colorado Redhawks offense.

Dan Jameson stood up at the plate, crushed the third pitch and reached with a double. Jon Bielecki was still on fire as he quickly traded spots with Dan bringing the score to 6-4 in the top of the 7th inning.

The game got away from the Redhawks in the bottom of the 7th inning, but overall the Redhawks pitching staff held the Nationals to only 3 earned runs on Sunday.

SHOWDOWN AT EAST DENVER

This Sunday's game should shape up to be the best game of the season. The Colorado Redhawks have been waiting for this match up since the 2007 divisional playoffs were the Redhawks were eliminated by the Nationals in the semi-finals.

Both teams share the lead at the top of the board with a 5-0 record. The winner of this game will hold the top spot in the division.

The Redhawks are looking forward to unleashing their powerful offense and will be tough to knock off their perch.

SUNDAY'S GAME GOES THE DISTANCE

05/05/08

The Free Agents figured out a way to go all 9 innings against the Colorado Redhawks. They didn't win the game but instead got a moral victory by being the only team to reach double digits against the Redhawks this season.

With the score being so close there were a couple of key players that came through this Sunday. Zack Krevor is the silent threat on the Redhawks squad. Zack continually crushes the ball every week and never leaves a fellow Redhawk stranded on base. Zack managed to hit 3 for 4 and chalked up 3 more RBI's. Dan "THE MAN" Jameson continues to increase his batting average and set the bar for hitting by going 3 for 3 with 3 RBI's as well.

The player of the game was Rookie Mike McGuire. Mike took the bump, registered 4 K's and managed to hold the Free Agents to only 1 earned run over 4 innings. He helped himself out by batting 2 for 4 with one of those shots being an opposite field Home Run.

ROAD TRIP TO BRIGHTON MAY LEAD TO 100 RUNS

05/01/08

The Colorado Redhawks will be taking on the Denver Free Agents. It's the first meeting this year between the two ball clubs. Both teams will make the road trip to Brighton HS and lock horns at 4:00 pm.

In just four games the Colorado Redhawks have managed to score a total of 94 runs against their opponents. This Sunday will be no different as the Redhawks look to keep the meter running.

The Redhawks pitching staff has kept all four of its opponents this season to single digits on the scoreboard.

On Sunday, the redhawks will turn to their bullpen and utilize three new pitchers with the determination of keeping the streak alive.

MERCY, NO MERCY... REDHAWK STYLE

04/27/08

Sunday's game against the Denver Vandals was everything the Colorado Redhawks thought it would be. It was the best match up of the season so far for the Redhawks.

Both teams wasted no time firing away with three runs a piece in the first inning. The Vandals capitalized on a few E's, and by the top of the 4th inning they were up 7-3 over the Redhawks.

The Redhawks had seen enough. As the temperature reached a balmy 45 degrees the Redhawks thawed out their bats and answered with 6 runs in the bottom of the 4th, bringing the game back under their control at 9-7.

The Deaks came in and took the bump in the top of the 5th inning. He managed to hold the Vandals to no earned runs over three innings while chalking up 6 K's! The junk he threw was so nasty, the Redhawks are officially changing his name to Dirty Deakins!

The highlight of the game couldn't have been crazier or in better style. It came in the bottom of the 7th inning. The stage was set with two men on base, the Redhawks were up 17-8, the sun had just started to break through the clouds and Rick Ivy was at the dish. The Z Man hollered out "come on Rick, hit a walk off!" Ivy glanced back and grinned. The pitch was delivered and sure enough, Rick Ivy hit a 420 ft. walk off HOME RUN that woke up NORAD as it traveled like a scud missile over the Ft. Lupton left field fence.

Ivy’s 3 run blast was recorded in the books as a broken bat, walk off, Home Run. The game was over as the mercy rule was put in effect. The way Ivy split that METAL bat in half was not a sign of mercy...

REDHAWKS FACE OFF AGAINST 2007 28A CHAMPIONS

04/25/08

This Sunday's game should shape up to be a close match up as the Colorado Redhawks meet one of the scrappiest teams in the league...The Denver Vandals.

Both teams will travel North to Fort Lupton and get their game on at 9:00 AM in 30 degree weather.

IVY BRINGS THE POISON FOR SECOND WEEK IN A ROW

04/20/08

Rick Ivy drops another 400 ft. bomb and missed a second HR by inches. Rick's second missle deflected off the top of the steel monster in left field and resulted in an easy stand up double.

Ned Deakins chalked up another four RBI's. The Deaks has the natural ability to crush any pitcher in the league and it doesn't hurt that he bats behind the G-Man who's batting an easy .625

Dan Jameson was all business as he smashed the ball and legged out two stand up doubles. Dan added to his OBP by reaching base all four at bats on Sunday.

The Redhawks pitching staff was stellar as usual and unleashed a new gem in the closing department...Steve Bishop!

UNDER THE LIGHTS

DOUBLE ANGEL BALLPARK AT 7:30PM. BE THERE AT 6:30PM.

REDHAWKS BRING IT AGAIN

04/14/08

The excellent weather on Sunday opened the door to a powerful display of offense for the Colorado Redhawks.

It's no secret any baller on the Redhawks squad has the power to go yard at any time but on this Sunday it was Garrett Exstrom, Rick Ivy, Adrian DeMarco, and Alan Schultz that dropped four mammoth bombs.

Congratulations to the Bisons for putting together a quality squad this season. Despite the administrative issues they were plagued with last year as the Brewers, they have fired back with slick new Bison uniforms, and great management.

BISONS NEXT ON REDHAWKS MENU

04/10/08

The Colorado Bisons will be hosting the Colorado Redhawks 4:00pm next Sunday at Alameda HS.

The Colorado Bisons played hard on opening day against the Denver Black Sox but fell short one run to the 2007 28AA divivsion champions.

The Redhawks pitching staff will be ready to throw some smoke and unleash the fury of their stellar offense this Sunday. This should be a close and very competitive game.

REDHAWKS AGGRESSIVE ON OFFENSE

04/06/08

The Redhawks drew first blood in the first inning by firing off three hard hits which resulted in three RBI's. The Bears answered by taking the lead in the third inning and held it until the Redhawks tied it up in the fifth.

It must have been the relaxed and charismatic attitude infused with some good conditioning that led the Redhawks to crank out 12 runs off the Bears pitching in the final four innings of the season opener.

Mark Link and Ned Deakins topped of the offensive assault with 4 RBI's each while Rick Ivy nearly missed a HR in his endeavor to hit for the cycle.

The Redhawks Four Horsemen came out gunning and chalked up 10 K's on the day.
